Common Questions
What is the difference between laminate and engineered wood?
Laminate is a photographic layer over a core board. Engineered wood has a real wood veneer on a plywood base, giving it authentic wood character and better longevity.
Should I add more than 10% waste?
Yes, if your room has complex layouts, alcoves, diagonal patterns, or underfloor heating. Add 15-20% waste for trickier projects.
Can I lay flooring over existing flooring?
Usually no. Old flooring should normally be removed first, except suitable underlayment. Always check the product instructions and ask a fitter for problem floors.
How much does professional fitting cost?
Labour typically runs £10-£40/m2 depending on material and complexity. Get local quotes from at least 2-3 fitters.
